We built Formatli because formatting shouldn't be the hardest part of writing. Authors spend months on a manuscript, then hit the wall every indie publishing path has at the end: turning that manuscript into files KDP, IngramSpark, Apple, Kobo, Google, and D2D will accept. Students and researchers face the same problem in a different shape: strict institutional templates, binding margins, roman-numbered front matter, and a submission deadline that doesn't care how long the formatting takes.
The tools that exist either produce results that look obviously templated, or require you to learn typesetting on top of writing. We thought there was room for a service that handles the formatting for you, properly, and gives you back upload-ready files in 2 days.
What we do
We format books and academic documents. You upload a manuscript (DOCX) and tell us the basics. For books, that's trim size, fonts, and cover info. For theses, it's school, degree, year, and advisor. We deliver every file you need to publish or submit:
- Print-ready PDF with KDP-compliant margins, fonts, and gutters
- Reflowable ePub for Kindle and Apple Books
- Fixed-layout ePub for cookbooks, poetry, and picture books
- IngramSpark-compatible interior and cover PDFs when you need them
- Thesis and dissertation formatting: 1.5-inch binding margin, Times New Roman 12pt double-spaced, roman-numbered front matter, auto-generated TOC, print-ready PDF plus editable DOCX
- Every file run through 32+ automated validation checks
What makes us different
Most formatting services lean toward fiction. We handle the harder stuff too: cookbooks with recipe cards, poetry with intentional line breaks, picture books where layout is the product, puzzle books with grid integrity, books with footnotes, indexes, callout boxes, and embedded charts.
We don't add or change your content. We deliver the files; you own everything.
How we work
- Upload your manuscript and pick a style on the order page.
- Pay through Stripe. No card details touch our servers.
- We format the book and email you a token-authenticated link to download the files when they're ready.
