KDP Royalty & Cost Calculator

KDP gives you 60% royalty on books sold through Amazon directly. If you opt into Expanded Distribution (libraries, bookstores), those sales pay 40%. The printing cost is the same either way and is deducted from the royalty.

KDP eligibility for 70% requires your list price between $2.99 and $9.99 in the US (with equivalent ranges in other marketplaces). You also pay a delivery fee of $0.15/MB on every sale. Outside this range you receive 35% with no delivery deduction.

Yes. Switch the Format selector to Hardcover. US black & white hardcover prints for a flat $6.80 from 75 to 108 pages, then $5.65 plus $0.012 per page above that. The royalty math is identical to paperback once the printing cost is set.

KDP charges a flat minimum for low-page books: $2.30 (standard trim) or $2.84 (large trim) for a US black & white paperback up to 108 pages. Only above 108 pages does the per-page rate kick in. This is why a 40-page and a 90-page puzzle book print for the same amount.

KDP won't let you list below your printing cost divided by your royalty rate, because the royalty would be negative. The calculator shows this floor and warns you when your price drops beneath it.
